Online Security Policy

We want to ensure that your online experience with us is safe, secure, and transacted with the utmost confidentiality. The following information addresses online security, encryption and our automatic signoff feature.

Online Security

When you use Redwood Credit Union's (RCU) Home Banking service, you can be sure that your account transactions are being handled just as securely as if you were using our telephone banking, ATM, point-of-sale or branch services. Redwood Credit Union utilizes many security measures to protect your account information -- including encryption and automatic sign off.

Encryption

The information you provide to us online is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL technology). SSL is the leading security protocol for data transfer on the Internet. This technology scrambles your account information as it moves between your PC's browser and RCU's computer systems. When information is scrambled, or encrypted in this way, it becomes nearly impossible for anyone other than Redwood Credit Union to read it. This secure session helps protect the safety and confidentiality of your information when you bank with us online. You must have 128-bit SSL encryption, or High SSL Encryption to access RCU Online Banking and RCU Bill Pay.

How can I tell if my data is being encrypted?

You can easily tell if your data is being encrypted. Just take a look at the key symbol which appears in the corner of your window in Netscape Navigator or the lock symbol if you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox in secure sessions.

If these icons are broken or not visible, then you are not in a secure session and information you submit is not encrypted.

Download the latest Browser Software

High encryption software comes standard in all the latest browser software. Here are a few helpful links:

Automatic Sign Off

You may not always be at your own computer when you use Home Banking. Therefore, it's important to exit and sign off when you are finished. If you forget to do so, Redwood will automatically sign you off after 15 minutes of inactivity and the last page that you viewed will remain visible on the screen.

RCU Online Account Access Protection Via Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) offers additional protection by requiring Members to provide a combination of information for online access to accounts. This extra security will reduce potential online theft and fraud. Read more.
